Storyboard

The first shot will be an establishing shot of the school gate. Non-diegetic music will be playing over the shot (acoustic guitar) as the students walk through the gate and the camera gradually focuses on the couple standing to the right of the school gate.

The second shot is a medium close-up of 'Brad' and 'Jessica', a couple having an argument. The non diegetic music continues throughout the scene with the dialogue over the top.
As the couple are making up 'Amy' walks past. The music continues.
Amy walks over to 'The Guys', Jay is in the middle of telling a story. The non diegetic rhythmical guitar stops, and just before the shot is over it is replaced with an electric guitar, blues style piece of music, still non diegetic.

A medium close up of Amy being passed a joint. The music continues with Jay's dialogue over the top.
A medium close up reaction shot of one of 'the guys' taking the joint while listening to Jay's story, the music continues.
As Jay's story comes to an end the music fades out too.
A long shot of the guys, after a pause the final line is said "anyway...who wants to go get some munch?"
As they begin to walk away from their lesson that just started a non diegetic, blues style, guitar solo plays...
...as the title appears.

The opening sequence needs to be set outside a school to establish that the main characters are students. I shall be filming the various shots outside Rosebery School, Epsom with the school's permission.

The film will be shot outside in a natural light because a lot of the story line relies on the characters plans for summer, therefore natural light is most fitting with the story.

In order to create the image of all people within the opening sequence being students, many will be holding textbooks or schoolbags.

The main group of characters are shown smoking a joint right outside of the school, a roll-up cigarette will be used for this.

Costumes

Costumes

The first two named characters to appear on the screen are Brad and Jessica. These two are portraying the typical, popular couple. In order for their costumes to express this they will be wearing fashionable, casual clothes. To the target audience this will identify the sort of “clique” they would belong to within the college.

“The Guys”:

Jay, Amy, Jodie, Dan and Becky.

This group of people differ from ‘Brad’ and ‘Jessica’ because their characters are not meant to be as fashionable as those two. Their clothes will be casual but slightly more “grungy” than the others.
