Storyboard

The first shot will be an establishing shot of the school gate. Non-diegetic music will be playing over the shot (acoustic guitar) as the students walk through the gate and the camera gradually focuses on the couple standing to the right of the school gate.
The second shot is a medium close-up of 'Brad' and 'Jessica', a couple having an argument. The non diegetic music continues throughout the scene with the dialogue over the top.
As the couple are making up 'Amy' walks past. The music continues.
Amy walks over to 'The Guys', Jay is in the middle of telling a story. The non diegetic rhythmical guitar stops, and just before the shot is over it is replaced with an electric guitar, blues style piece of music, still non diegetic.
Medium close up of 'Jay' telling his story and smoking a joint. The blues guitar continues.
A medium close up of Amy being passed a joint. The music continues with Jay's dialogue over the top.
A medium close up reaction shot of one of 'the guys' taking the joint while listening to Jay's story, the music continues.
As Jay's story comes to an end the music fades out too.
A long shot of the guys, after a pause the final line is said "anyway...who wants to go get some munch?"
As they begin to walk away from their lesson that just started a non diegetic, blues style, guitar solo plays...
...as the title appears.

Location

Location

The opening sequence needs to be set outside a school to establish that the main characters are students. I shall be filming the various shots outside Rosebery School, Epsom with the school's permission.

The film will be shot outside in a natural light because a lot of the story line relies on the characters plans for summer, therefore natural light is most fitting with the story.

Props

In order to create the image of all people within the opening sequence being students, many will be holding textbooks or schoolbags.

The main group of characters are shown smoking a joint right outside of the school, a roll-up cigarette will be used for this.

(disclaimer: this only contains tobacco)

Costumes

Costumes

The first two named characters to appear on the screen are Brad and Jessica. These two are portraying the typical, popular couple. In order for their costumes to express this they will be wearing fashionable, casual clothes. To the target audience this will identify the sort of “clique” they would belong to within the college.

“The Guys”:

Jay, Amy, Jodie, Dan and Becky.

This group of people differ from ‘Brad’ and ‘Jessica’ because their characters are not meant to be as fashionable as those two. Their clothes will be casual but slightly more “grungy” than the others.

chapter 1

Students are walking into the school gates, a typical ‘popular’ boyfriend (Brad) and girlfriend (Jessica) are standing outside the gate having a heated discussion.

JESSICA

Brad, just tell me what’s wrong!

BRAD: Leave it Jessica.

JESSICA: To make this work we need to communicate with each other, what can I be expected to do if you won’t even talk to me!

BRAD: I know it’s just…

Jessica: Brad, just trust me!

BRAD: (reluctantly)…alright…

Brad stops giving Jessica the cold shoulder and turns his head towards her, eyes staring at the ground.

…It’s just, I love you so much (pause)it scares me.

JESSICA: Awwww Brad.

Brad and Jessica hug each other tightly, just as this happens Amy walks past, looks at the couple and roles her eyes. We follow her down the road where she bumps into Jay, Jodie Becky and Chris. They’re passing round a joint while Jay is half way through a story. The other friends quietly greet Amy while still listening to Jay’s story.

JAY: A couple of g of white rhino some northern some pure THC basically, this is the most weed I’ve seen in a long time,

Amy and Jay exchange a flirtatious smile.

and we put it all into this one batch of brownies. We’ve got 3 massive ones each, and I’ve already had a few j’s so the munchies are hitting me, hard. Im hungry like really hungry, and, I don’t know what im doing so, I eat all of mine.

CHRIS: (laughing) bad idea

JAY: yeh so I turn around to the other guys and they’ve eaten half a brownie each… and they’re like “Dude, what are you doing? You only wanna eat like half and see where it gets you…”… So anyway, I wake up a couple of days later in the same spot on my couch.

CHRIS: (laughing) tell em about the dog

JAY: Oh christ so I wake up in the same spot, still a little stoned, a little dazed and confused. I look up and my sister’s yelling at me. Apparently, while I’ve been out of it my dog’s eaten my last bit of brownie off the table. According to my sister she’s gotten home from work and the dog is just, repeatedly, walking into the walls. Then He’s got up, ran up the stairs, fallen back down them, pissed himself, and then fallen asleep.

All crack up and Jay takes a long toke on the joint. The bell rings to signify the start of the lesson.

AMY: Lessons starting…

None of them move for a while.

BECKY: So was the dog ok

JAY: Yeh he was fine, but I guess he has always been a litle off since then… just weird (long pause)

Wanna go get some munch?

They all nod and mutter in agreement and begin to walk off in the opposite direction to the school gate.

The End

Film Synopsis

Film Synopsis

This teen comedy (a cross between ‘Juno’ and ‘Dazed and Confused’) is an affectionate look at today’s youth culture. It follows a group of friends through their last year of college, and their last year together before they split up to head off for different universities or work placements. As the start of their lives looms over them they realise how little they know about real life and decide to distract themselves by planning the ultimate sending off holiday. With this, the realisation of money, and not having any, dawns on them and they begin to try and raise funds for the holiday. After many tried and failed attempts, main character Jay (Josh Webbe), decides to raise the money with his favourite past-time, weed. He’s used to selling a couple of ounces here and there but in order to afford this week of drug-and-drink-filled debauchery they seek out to sell on a much bigger scale. With the help of love interest Amy (Rachel Bonnar) and best friends Becky (Stephanie Ball), Jodie (Freya Mapsten) and Chris (Dan Bardey) we follow the group venture into waters they’re not entirely equipped for.
